Welcome to Stoneways Insurance Services; we are an independent intermediary that specialises in equine insurance,
pet insurance, trailer insurance and caravan insurance. So if you are looking for one of these types of insurance
policies you have come to the right place.
Our horse insurance and trailer insurance is CHEAPER ON-LINE or alternatively, you can call us on 01483 426966
if you prefer personal service. However our pet insurance and caravan insurance is only available on line.
When you buy your horse insurance policy on-line you get one month free if you pay by direct debit.
Services provided:
Stoneways Insurance Services specialise in animal insurance specifically horse insurance, however we have also
released a pet insurance package. To compliment the animal side of the business we also provide a scheme for
trailer insurance and now we have released a caravan insurance policy. The caravan insurance has many
discounts; its cheaper if you have a tracker devices and are claim free however there are also other discounts
from which you can benefit.

Status
We are an Independent Intermediary that acts largely on behalf of Insurers under various binding authorities.
These binding authorities allow us to issue policies and settle certain claims on behalf of the insurers. On
classes of business where we do not have binding authorities we will act as an intermediary on your behalf
arranging your insurance cover with insurers to meet your requirements.
Regulation
We are regulated by the FSA and we conform to their code of practice; our membership number is 304019.
Confidentiality
Unless required by law, public interest, virtue of our membership of FSA or you give your consent, all information
you supply will be kept confidential to us and parties involved in the normal course of arranging and administering
your insurance. Under the Data Protection Act 1998 you have the right to see personal information about you that we
hold in our records and we are entitled to ask you to pay for this.
Negotiation and Placing
When applicable we will place your business under binding authorities that we hold which enable business to be
handled promptly and efficiently at terms unique to these authorities. The limits and cover on your policy reflect
the information that you have supplied to us. Our Summary of Cover explains the terms and conditions of these
policies. You must check that these meet with your requirements.
On business where we do not hold binding authorities we will discuss your insurance requirements and will conduct
negotiations with insurers with whom we hold agencies.
We will assess the financial soundness of proposed insurers using industry recognised rating guides however we will
not guarantee or otherwise warrant the solvency of any insurer.
Claims
If you have occasion to claim on your policy you must notify us immediately and we will, if appropriate, issue you
with a claim form and pass details to your insurer. You should not admit liability nor agree to any course of action,
other than emergency measures carried out to minimise the loss, until you have agreement from your insurer.
Complaints
It is always our intention to provide a first class service. However, should you have cause for complaint regarding
the sale or administration of your policy you should in the first instance contact Stoneways, either orally or in
writing. If your complaint cannot be satisfactorily dealt with immediately then it will be acknowledged within 5
business days advising you what we are doing. We will try to sort out the problem and give you an answer with 4
weeks. If it takes longer than 4 weeks we will tell you when you can expect an answer. If we have not given you an
answer in 8 weeks we will tell you how you can take your complaint to the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS).

Notice
Insurers pass information to the Claims and Underwriting Exchange run by Insurance Database Services Ltd and the Motor
Insurance Anti-Fraud and Theft Register run by the Association of British Insurers. The aim is to check information
provided and also prevent fraudulent claims.
Remuneration
Our remuneration is based on a percentage of the insurance premium paid by you before the addition of Insurance
Premium Tax (IPT). Additionally there are various policy charges made which are not subject to IPT.
It is standard under the binding authorities that we administer for us to charge a £5 policy charge when payment
is by cheque or credit card. When payment is by direct debit the standard charge is £2 per installment.
Premium amendments and cancellations are subject to £5 policy charges.
Payment terms are strictly within 14 days of inception, unless by Direct Debit.
Certain binding authorities have a remuneration aspect based on the profitability of the overall contract to
insurers.
Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS)
If an insurer is unable to meet its liabilities under the insurance, you may be entitled to compensation from
the FSCS.
The first £2,000 of the claim is protected in full and 90% of the remainder will be met if applicable. You can
get further information from the Financial Services Authority (FSA).
