This policy covers pet insurance.

The policy is a 12-month contract and renewal will be invited each year.

Statement of demands and needs
This policy is underwritten by Allianz Insurance plc and meets the needs of those wishing to insure a pet cat or dog for death, theft, vets fees and for dogs only third party liability. You will receive no advice or any recommendation from us in relation to this product against other products. You will have to decide for yourself whether the insurance policy offered is suitable for you.

Cancellation Rights
This contract gives you a cooling off period. If after receiving your certificate of insurance and full policy terms and conditions you are not happy you have 14 days during which you can cancel the policy by sending written confirmation to Stoneways, PO Box 135, Godalming GU7 1WZ. If you cancel outside of the 14 day cancellation period and the premium becomes due you may not receive a return of your premium.

Claims Notification
You need to complete a claim form for the incident in question. You can notify us of a claim and obtain a claim form by calling 01483 426966. Your vet may charge you a fee for completing a claim form; your policy does not cover this cost.

If Stoneways are unable to resolve the problem within 4 weeks your complaint will be passed to Allianz Insurance plc.
If we are unable to resolve the problem we will provide you with information about the Financial Ombudsman Service.

Using our complaints procedure or referral to the Financial Ombudsman Service does not affect your legal rights.

Financial Services Compensation Scheme
Allianz Insurance plc is covered by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS).
You may be entitled to compensation from the FSCS if Allianz Insurance plc cannot meet their liabilities. You may be entitled to compensation up to £2,000 for the first part of any claim and 90% of the remainder.

Significant Exclusions and Limitations (references in brackets are to the relevant sections in the policy terms and conditions):
  • You must take proper care of your pet including an annual dental examination, vaccinations, worming programme and any treatment recommended by your vet to prevent illness or injury (General condition 4a).
  • Your policy does not cover any illness or injury that occurred before your cover started or any illness within the first 14 days of cover (General exclusion 3 and General condition 1).
  • You must be a resident of the United Kingdom (including the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands) to insure your pet under this policy (The Policy preamble).
  • You pay the first £100 for standard Vet's Fees cover (Section 3 exclusion j) and £250 on claims under Third Party Liability (damage to property only), liability cover is applicable to dogs only (Section 4 exclusion g).
  • Your policy does not cover costs charged by your vet for completion of insurance claim forms or for the provision of any other information (General condition 5b).

Significant Features and Benefits:
  1. Death from injury or illness or loss by theft or straying: pays the sum insured or market value whichever is less following loss by death or euthanasia.
  2. Vet's Fees: pays towards the cost of treating illness or injury by your attending vet. The limits will be shown on your certificate. Cover is provided for 12 months from the date of accident or date of illness or disease manifesting itself up to but not exceeding the policy limit.
  3. Third Party Liability applicable to dogs only: pays for compensation for damage done by your dog to people or property for which you are found legally liable subject to £1 million limit. Cover includes costs and expenses incurred in defending a claim subject to insurers written approval.
